I'm a British art director living in California. Nineteen years ago I started out at DNEG in London as a matte painter and environment artist, working up to sequence lead on feature films like Thor, Rush, Total Recall and more. These days I art direct cinematics across Blizzard's biggest franchises.

The job was never just to make it pretty. It's deciding what a shot is for, holding a room of artists and outside vendors to one idea and taking on the hardest environments myself. The way I was brought up through the pipeline shaped how I lead. Mentoring is a big part of how I work.

  • Manage and art-direct the artists on each project across modeling, animation, illustration and FX, plus the coaching and feedback that keeps them growing.
  • Direct multiple external illustration and animation vendors at once, owning the relationships and holding the quality bar across every delivery.
  • Matte-paint skies, mountains and environments into cinematics myself, several of which have shipped publicly.
